European Lottery: Life Changes For a Young Couple
The Eurolottery draw has changed the lives of a delightful young couple from Stapleford in Nottingham.
Cassey Carrington, a supervisor at Iceland, and Matt Topham, a painter and decorator in his father’s business, are both aged 22 and won the European lottery jackpot by playing online.
Cassey felt her luck was in when her store won a sales incentive of £10,000, which the staff divided among themselves. As a result she decided to see if her luck would extend to the lottery.
She bought a ticket for the European lottery draw on Friday 3 February 2012 but won nothing. There was still a balance on her online account so she used that to buy tickets for both the British National Lottery the next Saturday and the Eurolottery draw on Tuesday.
The Tuesday Eurolottery ticket scooped her a stunning £45,160,170.50.
Cassey has only played the lottery a few times and has already won two prizes of £10. The European lottery jackpot win has come at the right time for the couple however.
That Tuesday both Matt’s computer and their washing machine broke down. They were already budgeting for their forthcoming wedding and were frustrated by their bad luck. Cassey then decided to check the lottery numbers.
She ran though the European lottery numbers and could not believe what she saw so she rang a friend so he could check too. They all got very excited but refused to celebrate before they spoke to the lottery administrators the next day. Like so many lottery winners, Cassey and Matt got little sleep that night.
The couple have great plans for the money. The first priority is to treat family and friends. Cassey’s father has always wanted a Porsche and so the couple plans to treat him to one as well as pay off her parents’ mortgage. Having struggled with a mortgage themselves, Matt and Cassey will help friends get a house and Matt’s father will be able to retire.
The couple will treat themselves too. Cassey says, “There are just so many hobbies that I never thought I would ever be able to do so to go from having nothing as a hobby to being able to do anything is just crazy.” They plan to design and build their own dream house and have watched Top Gear to identify the cars they want; Cassey has put an Aston Martin at the top of her list. Travel is a burn for the two as well and several destinations have been discussed, including visiting Monaco for the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
And their wedding day will be a lot more lavish, thanks to the European lottery.
