Eurolottery: Surprised Millionaire Raffle Winner

Posted by admin on Sep-15-2011

Champagne Glass On Table In Restaurant

Not surprisingly we usually hear stories about winners of the European lottery jackpot but forget that other prizes given out are also changing lives.

Adam Derbi from Cardiff is a self-employed cab driver and lives with his wife, Natalia. He plays the European lottery regularly and received an email after the Eurolottery draw on Tuesday 5 July this year telling him he had won £5.10 by matching two numbers.

He logged on to his computer to take part in the draw on the following Friday but couldn’t find his prize listed. He started to search the screen. “When I scrolled down I saw that I’d won the £1 million as well. I started shaking and it all seemed surreal. Natalia was right there but she didn’t believe me at first; it’s only now really sinking in.”

Adam had won the Millionaire Raffle in the European lottery, a prize given in addition to any prize already won in the draw.

Although it wasn’t the top prize the Eurolottery draw offers, the money will make a big difference to the couple’s lives. They have five children and the first thing they did was to have a celebratory meal for all close family members. Like so many winners, Adam is sensible about the win: “It’s a case of allowing the money to give us some security and our children a decent start in life.”

The family is looking to move out of their rented home to buy a good house and a seven-seater car. Adam is also looking to indulge his favourite hobby – playing golf – a bit more too.

We wish the family all good luck for the future. It just shows you don’t have to win the jackpot to benefit from the European lottery.

Eurolottery: Winning Couple In Hiding

Posted by admin on Jul-20-2011

Whenever I hear of somebody winning a huge amount of money on the European lottery I always hope they manage to stay anonymous so they have a chance to do something constructive with their good fortune. For this reason I was a little sad to see the recent winners of the Eurolottery draw, Colin and Chris Weir, going public about their £161 million win.

It now seems I was right. News reports indicate that the couple from Ayrshire have gone into hiding, possibly abroad.

Inevitably they have been inundated with begging letters for money. The couple had decided to go public with their win so they would not have to lie to friends and family as that seemed the simplest thing to do.

However a spokesman from Camelot stated the couple did not want any more publicity and that the lottery organizers were not at liberty to comment on their whereabouts.

Here is the lesson: if you are lucky enough to win either the European lottery or the British National Lottery make sure you tick the box that asks if you want to stay anonymous. A couple won £113 million in the Eurolottery in October 2010 and nobody knows who or where they are. Winners in other countries even opt to wear masks at the press conference but it would seem sensible to not even hold a press conference but to walk quietly away and resume your life.

It’s not the money that destroys your life, it’s the fame.

Eurolottery: Ayrshire Couple Win Record Jackpot

Posted by admin on Jul-15-2011

Earlier today the couple that had won the recent £161 million jackpot in the European lottery held a press conference in their hometown of Largs, Ayrshire.

Chris and Colin Weir were very sensible about their good fortune but didn’t sleep for two nights once they realized they had won. They checked the numbers from the television in the evening and had to wait until the next morning to register their win. Together they watched the sun rise before Chris dialed Camelot, the lottery administrators.

Both partners have had serious health problems in recent years that had prevented them working so the good luck is welcome. However they are not letting it all to get to their heads; Chris told reporters “We are not flashy people” and husband Colin observed, “With great wealth come great responsibility.”

Ideas for their future include travelling. Chris and Colin have always wanted to see the Great Wall of China and Ayers Rock and explore the art galleries of the world. The only other commitment they made was to buy homes for their two grown-up children.

We send very best wishes to the lucky couple for the future.

Back in May, Simon Cowell was revealed to be worth more that £200 million and yet he still plays the lottery – and wins.

Looking at the European lottery this week, I can’t blame him for wanting to play. The jackpot has rolled over 11 times now to reach a total of an estimated £154 million and, according to the old rules of the Eurolottery, the next draw would produce a winner whatever.

However the rules have changed (in April 2011) and the jackpot can rise no further than €185 million (around £167 million). Previously, if no player matched the five numbers and two Lucky Stars then the prize would go to the player who matched the most numbers and stars. Now it has to be won by someone matching five numbers and two Lucky Stars whenever that might be. The jackpot just will not increase above the €185 million limit.

So in theory the jackpot will stay at this level for several weeks: as long as it takes to find a winner.

The good news is that any money in excess of the limit will be paid out in increased prize money for the lesser prizes. And, since the large jackpot draws more players, this means more people will be winning life-changing prizes in the European lottery.

With 24 hours until the next draw isn’t now a great time to get your European lottery tickets from theLotter.com?

European Lottery: The Millionaire Raffle

Posted by admin on Jun-24-2011

Twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday, the European Lottery is drawn with substantial rewards for players holding a winning ticket. You may have noticed however there is a second draw that takes place at the same time: the Millionaire Raffle.

What is this and how does it work?

The prize for this additional draw is the same every week, a guaranteed £1 million and there is one winner every week. On special occasions there may be more than one winner however.

This draw only takes place in the United Kingdom and every player of the Eurolottery is automatically entered into the Millionaire Raffle too. When the extra draw was introduced it was financed by an increase in the stake money to £2 a ticket.

In theory a player can win a prize in the European lottery and win the Millionaire Raffle too.

The odds of winning the £1 million prize vary according to the interest in the Eurolottery that week but generally the chances are better on a Tuesday (at around 1 in 3.5 million) than on a Friday (1 in 9.2 million).

There are differences from the main Euro Millions lottery. Firstly there is no rollover in the Millionaire Raffle; there is a winner every time. A player cannot choose their Millionaire Raffle number as this is automatically allocated by the system when the European lottery numbers are entered. The number given is unique and comprises three letters and six numbers (for example, SXY835528).

The winning number is drawn by an Automated Draw Machine, which is the industry’s standard equipment for selected draw numbers throughout the world. The draw is televised as part of the BBC Euro Millions Lottery programme and the ADM is rigorously tested by both Camelot (the lottery administrators) and the University of Hertfordshire.

The Millionaire Raffle gives players a second reason to be excited about the Eurolottery results!

European Lottery: Dream A Little

Posted by admin on Jun-22-2011

The European lottery this week has rolled over again and the jackpot this Friday has reached the dazzling total of £105 million (€119 million or $169 million) after rolling over nine times.

The Eurolottery rules state that the jackpot can roll over a total of eleven times before being given to the next highest prize winner on the twelfth occasion so the total could get higher yet.

Many people will now be dreaming what it would be like to own that sort of money. To put it in perspective you would immediately become nearly as wealthy as Jamie Oliver (£106 million) and more than pop star David Bowie (£100 million).

If the money is won on Friday it will not break any records however; the highest single Eurolottery payout was £113 million in October last year but I’m sure the winner would not be complaining. Mind you, it could still rollover for two more draws!

What would you do with that kind of money? If you won the Eurolottery jackpot you would have the choice of the worlds most exotic cars and boats. The house of your dreams would easily be in your range. You could even afford your own island in the Caribbean. Yes, that’s true: take a look at the CaribbeanIslandBrokers.com website.

Me? I would love to give money to charity and then use a proportion to invest in innovative ideas and companies. Play Dragons Den for real.

Go to theLotter.com to get your tickets and who knows what dreams may come true.

Three Young Women Jumping For Joy In A Garden

As of tonight (Tuesday 10 May 2011) the European lottery has a second draw every week in addition to the usual Friday night draw.

For tonight, the jackpot will be an amazing £85 million (€100 million).

The draw is basically the same and will provide more winners and more jackpots each week and of course more money going to good causes.

There are also two minor changes to both Eurolottery weekly draws:

  • You match five main numbers from 1 to 50, as before, but now you can choose two Lucky Stars from 1 to 11 (instead of the previous 1 to 9).
  • There is a new lower prize for matching two main numbers, which pay something in the region of £2.70.

The two draws each week also mean there will be two Millionaire Raffles every week – so two chances to win £1 million in addition to a chance of winning the jackpot when you buy a ticket to the European lottery!

(Note: the Millionaire Raffle is only available in the UK draw)

Come on over to the Lotter now to take advantage of this exciting development.
